RunWV's Current Score: 24 of 30.

After 1 lap, there was a large pack, mostly coming through in 1:22-1:23. Lap 2 saw a large pack remain coming through in 2:49-2:50. At least 9 remained in the pack. On lap three, the pack started to dwindle. 7 remained, all coming in between 4:16 and 4:17. At the 1600 Meter mark, the pack remained at 7, coming through at 5:49-5:50. The pack remained at 7 through lap 5 with them all crossing between 7:21 and 7:22. Lap 6 saw much of the same. The pack started to spread a little, but all 7 were still between 8:55 and 8:57. On lap 7, Philip Barbour's Sarah McCauley made her move. She took lap 7 in 78 seconds following a 94 second lap 6. No one was able to respond and she generated a 10 second gap over Philip Barbour's Katelyn Mahoney and Herbert Hoover's Erica Walker. On the final lap, McCauley extended her lead to finish in 11:33.24 and take the win by just over 11 seconds. Mahoney closed well to take 2nd by nearly 5 seconds. Weir's Alexis Virtue used a strong finish to move from 5th/6th into 3rd, just ahead of Walker. Weir's Kritsen Mastrantoni held off teammate Tricia Marker for 5th as Marker fought back into finishing position after having fallen off the pack on lap 7. Philip Barbour's Brianna Waybright gave the field 7 sub-12 runners.
RunWV's Current Score: 29 of 36.

RunWV's Current Score: 32 of 42.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Poca's Adrian Cunningham duplicated last year's feat by again destroying the field. This time she won by over 2.3 seconds. Her 45.05 stands as the 10th Best All-Time State Meet Performance Regardless of Class and the 3rd Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Keyser's Erica white and Berkeley Springs' Michelle Williams ran under 48 seconds in taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively. All six placers were under 49.
RunWV's Current Score: 37 of 48.

RunWV's Current Score: 41 of 54.

4x200 Meter Relay
Oak Glen used a strong anchor leg from Alexis Burch to snag the half-second win. Oak Glen was the only team under 1:49, and Keyser was the only other team under 1:50.
RunWV's Current Score: 47 of 60.

4x400 Meter Relay
Oak Glen used a sub-59 anchor leg from Alexis Burch to move past Weir and Wayne on the final lap to take the win. Wayne held off the late surge by Berkeley Springs to hold 2nd. Berkeley Spring's late surge pushed them past Weir for 3rd. 2nd through 4th all ran in the 4:14's.
RunWV's Current Score: 52 of 66.

4x800 Meter Relay
Weir took control on the second leg after crossing the first leg nearly simultaneously with Philip Barbour at the end of the first leg. Weir was in control thereafter, getting legs of under 2:30 from each of their four runners. They received a 2:25 closing leg from Tricia Marker and it's a good thing they did because Wayne got a 2:17 closer from Shannon Rutherford to close to within 4 1/2 seconds. Weir's 9:50.44 stands as the 9th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Wayne came through under 9:55. Philip Barbour nearly cracked the 10:00 barrier with their 10:01.87. No one else was under 10:15.
RunWV's Current Score: 57 of 72.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Magnolia edged past Tyler Consolidated on the anchor leg of Holly McDonald. Magnolia's 1:07.00 and Tyler Consolidated's 1:07.34 were the only runs under 1:08. Only Poca also made it in under 1:09. All six placers did run under 1:10. My predicted 2nd place finisher got nailed on a false start.
RunWV's Current Score: 61 of 78

High Jump
Tyler Consolidated's Makayla Clegg was the only jumper to clear 5'0. The remaining placers all cleared 4'10.
RunWV's Current Score: 65 of 84.

Pole Vault
Ritchie's Tristin Toman picked up the win with her vault of 8'9. The other three placers all cleared 8'0 as the WVSSAC's refusal to alter the starting height to match the field resulted in this event not having all it's placing spots filled.
RunWV's Current Score: 69 of 90.

Long Jump
Frankfort's Kayley Brothers and PikeView's Mariah Farley each soared past 16'0 with Brothers scoring the win on her 16'6 jump and Farley taking 2nd on her 16'1.50. Only Ritchie's Mykayla Garrett went past 15'6 in the remaining field.
RunWV's Current Score: 73 of 96.

shot Put
Berkeley Springs' Harley Stotler made it three years in a row. She dominated the field this year as her 37'9 toss was over 4' further than anyone else. Lincoln's Jessica Starcher picked up a surprise 2nd place finish and was the only other thrower to hit 33'.
RunWV's Current Score: 77 of 102.

Discus
Berkeley Springs' Harley Stotler made it two titles on the weekend as her 103'9 toss was enough to get the job done. Only Ritchie's Mikayla Little also eclipsed the 100' barrier. Only four throwers even hit 90'.
RunWV's Current Score: 81 of 108.

The final score of 81 of 108 means that 75.0% of the people picked to place did indeed place. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
